Who invented music? Was it Satan?

No. Many believe Satan was the choir director of heaven, but there is no indication this is true. The verse they point to is Ezekiel 13:28 where apparently an angel is being described.

You were in Eden,
the garden of God;
every precious stone adorned you:
ruby, topaz and emerald,
chrysolite, onyx and jasper,
sapphire, turquoise and beryl.
Your settings and mountings were made of gold;
on the day you were created they were prepared. (NIV)

However, “Settings and mountings” in the King James translation (completed in 1611) reads “tabrets and of thy pipes.” Tabret is a small drum or tambourine and pipes, some believe, means singing or trumpet playing. “Settings and mountings” are quite a bit different than drums and trumpets. Only the King James translations points to this musical quality. Others do not.

Some honestly don’t know what the phrase means or who it is talking about but time and tradition have made Satan out to be a musical prodigy.

Music appears all throughout the Old Testament, beginning in Genesis 4:21 with a man named Jubal who played the harp and flute. Psalms is a hymnal. Music is an expression of the heart and people use it to express their love for God.

God created music.  Like all things, Satan perverts music at times for his own good.
