Do we really have freewill if God directs our steps?

Commit to the LORD whatever you do,
and your plans will succeed.
The LORD works out everything for his own ends—
even the wicked for a day of disaster. Proverbs 16:3-4

Global Positioning Satellites are now installed in our cars and give us easy-to-follow directions to arrive at our destination. Turn right, turn left, merge, etc. Traffic signs also guide us along our paths. Even though everything is telling us where to go, we determine whether we will follow those signs and instructions. My obedience determines whether I choose to follow the right path. If I don't, I could get lost.

God gives us clear directions for a perfect life that lives in unison with God and others. However, our freewill determines whether we obey or not. If we choose our own directions, we run smack into other people’s wills. They too have their own directions. Major pile ups occur.  God shrugs.  "I gave you guys the right directions."

God effects the environment with situations and other people. Using those forces, plus His advantage of knowing everything and what everyone will do, God influences our environment, giving our will options.

God directs our steps, but we choose whether to follow his course.
