If God is watching evil happen, isn’t He responsible for it taking place?

The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry; the face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth. Psalm 34:15-16

No. God is only responsible for sin if He causes or encourages it to happen.

I can watch a baseball game, but I am not responsible for the batter’s batting average.  I can watch a crime happen, but as an innocent bystander, I shouldn’t go to jail.

On the other hand, is a parent responsible for the sin their child commits? They may have been a bad parent, but their crime isn’t bringing that child into the world or watching their child tailspin into violence or mayhem.

However, if the parent encouraged it or taught it, then yes that parent is responsible.

God never encourages or causes sin to happen. He speaks out against sin all the time.  He offers ways for us to free ourselves from sin.

God watches everything happen, but He does not promise to stop all evil. We invite evil into this world through our own personal choice.  Others cause sin to happen in our lives by choosing for it to happen.

So if God wiped out all sin and stopped it from happening, we would all be doomed. He would have to wipe us out.

God allows our choices to work their course, speaking to the freewill of individuals so they will change and eventually (hopefully) lead the person to transformation and salvation by turning to Him for guidance.
