I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it
grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters
is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who
plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded
according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in
God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building. 1 Corinthians 3:6-9
Paul in 1
Corinthians reminds us of a very important point—an individual’s salvation is a
group effort.
One person
plants the seed of interest in one’s heart, while another comes and waters it,
while another shows up to harvest it, then even another can disciple and
sustain that salvation.
So you may
be a quiet example of Jesus Christ in someone’s life (plants), then maybe that
person reads a book about Jesus by an author (waters) while a pastor seals the
deal during a sermon (harvest) and a small group leader maintains the
relationship with Christ through weekly studies (growth).
Don’t be
discouraged. You may not see someone
pray the prayer, but you were an integral part in the process.
