A remnant will return, a remnant of Jacob

    will return to the Mighty God.
Though your people be like the sand by the sea, Israel,
    only a remnant will return.
Destruction has been decreed,
    overwhelming and righteous.
The Lord, the Lord Almighty, will carry out
    the destruction decreed upon the whole land. Isaiah 10:21-23

            A remnant is a portion.  In the Old Testament, around the time of prophets like Isaiah and Jeremiah, God promised that a small portion of his people would one day return to Jerusalem and rebuild it.  Even today, despite everything bad happening around us, a remnant is usually preserved to carry on God’s will.
