Can I only say what God tells me to say?

Balak said to Balaam, “What have you done to me? I brought you to curse my enemies, but you have done nothing but bless them!”
He answered, “Must I not speak what the Lord puts in my mouth?” Numbers 23:11-12
Balaam was a prophet and a prophet’s job was to only say what God told him to say.  Does that include us also?  It’s a good principle to speak only what God lays on your heart.  God is the best filter to run through the words from your mind leading to your mouth.
That filter would include a number of questions:
·         Does it bless/encourage someone?
·         If it rebukes, is that from God or my flesh?
·         Is it true or a lie/hearsay?
·         Does it express unconditional love?
·         Does it glorify God?
So filter those thoughts through God and watch your speech change drastically.
