Do not
worship any other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. Exodus 34:14
Jealousy
is a bad word for us because it congers up the thought of someone is who
hitting on our spouse, or the time a child may spend with the wrong crowd, or
the time a spouse spends with another person.
Jealousy
can be good or bad. People have taken it
to unrealistic extremes, but others truly want the best for the other person
and see their outside relationships as being harmful.
God’s
jealousy arouses when he sees us loving the world more than him. That emotional response shows God loving us
for our good. If he wasn’t jealous, he’d
be apathetic. We don’t want that.
