So he
became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior
to theirs. Hebrews 1:4
Absolutely
not. Jesus created the universe at the
beginning of time (Hebrews 1:2,10), even creating the angels. He was appointed heir of all things (Hebrews
1:2). Jesus was the exact representation
of God’s glory (Hebrews 1:3) and saved us from our sins. He sits at the right hand of God, a place of
authority (Hebrews 1:3,13). No angel
ever did that.
Jesus
received the title of Son of God, his heavenly Father (Hebrews 1:5). The angels were told to worship him (Hebrews
1:6). Jesus sits on a throne and has
power (Hebrews 1:8). Angels are servants
to God, the soldiers and workers out fighting for their commander in chief.
The
book of Hebrews started off making that point exactly, probably because some
teaching was out there that Jesus was angel.
It’s not true.
