Why is 2 Chronicles 7:14 an important verse?

“When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:13-14
God warned the people in this chapter that there will be hard times ahead, when God would allow drought, famine, crop destruction and medical diseases to devast the nation.  The solution to that problem will be God’s people—not the unsaved or the non-religious.  God’s people need to humble themselves, pray, seek God’s face and turn from their own wicked way.
The church thinks the world is the problem.  God says that’s not true.  Hard times come when God determines it, not the world.  He’s cranking up the difficulties to kick start a movement by God’s people, getting them off their seats and to their knees.
When God’s people wake up, God promises to hear their prayers and bring power to their places of worship.  If God’s people turn from wickedness, goodness and peace will come to the earth.
So wake up church and stop trying to get the world right.  Get yourselves right and the world will follow when it sees God’s Spirit return with such force that He can’t be denied.
