Moab will be praised no more;

    in Heshbon people will plot her downfall:
    ‘Come, let us put an end to that nation.’  Jeremiah 28:2

Moab will be broken;
    her little ones will cry out.  Jeremiah 48:4

            Moab as a nation does not exist, but archaeological finds prove it once existed.  Today it would be located in the nation of Jordan, across the Dead Sea from Israel to the east.

 

            God promises to wipe it out of existence proved true since we do not see it as a nation today nor are any group of people known as Moabites.  It was believed that the nation disappeared sometime during the Persian empire.

            Jesus’ genealogy does include a Moabite, Ruth, who was the great grandmother to David.
