He put
garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became subject to David. The Lord gave David victory wherever he went. 1 Chronicles

Yes, it is for most of us. David remained humble for a long period of
time, but we could see small indicators that too much victory, even for a great
man like David, was not good for him.
He felt justified to take many
wives, have many children (who fought with one another) and then backed off
from going to war and remained home where he compromised his marriage vows.
Those victories were short-lived and
God allowed turmoil to happen to David to reset his humility.
