Were there dinosaurs when Adam and Eve were still alive?

And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. Genesis 1:24

God created all animals during a period of time. Then came a time when He “rested” and stopped creating. No more animals were created after that time. That means that dinosaurs were created with all other animals according to Genesis.

If all animals were created during one period of time, that means turtles, squirrels, bears and T-Rexs were all made simultaneously. Fossil record proves the appearance of many species all at once (it’s called The Cambrian Explosion).

From there we aren’t really sure:
  • Some people believe that the time period between the creation of animals and the creation of people was a million or so years and dinosaurs died during that time. For them, God was not in a hurry during this time and allowed the earth to regenerate and populate before humans showed up.
  • Others believe dinosaurs were alive during the time of Adam and Eve up to the time of Noah, but they did not make it on the ark (because of their size) and died in the flood.
  • Others say dinosaurs made it on the ark, then died later. They point to the book of Job, Psalms and Isaiah, believing the descriptions of a behemoth or a leviathan prove that dinosaurs and man co-existed.
I find a more interesting question about dinosaurs to be why did God create them? Why would God create an animal that would die and create so much confusion about creationism and worldly reasons for evolution?
