But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect. . . 2 Peter 3:15

Talk to them with gentleness and respect.  When people are upset, their emotions have overtaken their rational thinking. They can’t think straight. They are confused. It’s hard to communicate with them.

At times like that, people need reassurance and hope. Hopefully, you have that hope in you and can pass that on to them.

Make sure they know that God loves them, He understands this situation and He is sending help. Remind them of other times when God answered their prayers even though it seemed they were not listening.

Most people just need a reassuring and calm attitude, filled with hope and love to get through their difficult time.
