Does God think American Idol is good if we’re not supposed to have idols?

“You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand {generations} of those who love me and keep my commandments. Exodus 20:4-6

“Dear Kelly Clarkson, I give my heart to you. I love you more than anything in this world. . .”

A weird prayer, but bordering on idol worship.

If you worship an idol, you are putting your trust into something. God asks that we put our trust into Him. American Idol would be idol worship if we gave our heart, soul, mind and strength to Clay Aiken.

It’s okay to enjoy someone’s music, movies or books, but don’t give them more glory than you give God. Don’t cheer louder for them than you would God during a worship service.
