God did not create Himself. He always was who He
is and will always be who He is.
God said to Moses, “I am who I am . This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ “ Exodus 3:14
We are not eternal because we have a birthday.
We are finite. We began at a point, but our eternity extends into forever. For
God, life never had a beginning point. If someone created God, then we should
worship that creator.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. John 1:2-5
Jesus (the Word) was not created either. He
always was. God existed before creation and time began. It’s a hard concept to
grasp in our finite-time world, but it’s what makes God so unbelievable,
mysterious and powerful.
God always was.
There was never a time when he wasn’t.
