Must we hear now that you too are doing all this terrible wickedness and are being unfaithful to our God by marrying foreign women?” Nehemiah 13:27

            Marrying foreign women was a problem in Nehemiah’s time because the foreign women brought their foreign gods into the relationship, many times causing the husband to join the women in worshipping that god. 

            This infestation became a spiritual cancer that even during the time of Solomon worked its way to the king. 

            God is not against marrying people from other countries.  He’s more concerned that our marriages will displace Him as the primary relationship in someone’s heart.
