Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’” Luke 4:4

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’” Luke 4:8

Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’” Luke 4:12

            When Jesus faced off with the devil’s temptations in the wilderness, Jesus quoted scripture each time.  Now, the devil didn’t scamper away after the first quote.  He returned two more times, but Jesus kept after him each time with more scripture.  Satan’s weakness is truth and a constant defense of truth backed by the action of truth will deter the temptation to become sin.
