In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar… Luke 3:1
Tiberius was the second Roman
emperor from 14 to 37 AD. He succeeded
his stepfather, Augustus. His original
name was Tiberius Claudius Nero. His mom
divorced and married Augustus who became the first Roman emperor, a new title
of emperor. An emperor was more military
than monarchy, but the role had final say in all matters. When Tiberius died, his grand-nephew took
over, Caligula. Tiberius’ reign of
twenty-two years was one of the longest.
