And I heard a man’s voice from the Ulai calling, “Gabriel, tell this man the meaning of the vision.” Daniel 8:16
“…while
I was still in prayer, Gabriel, the man I had seen in the earlier vision, came
to me in swift flight about the time of the evening sacrifice. Daniel 9:21
The
angel said to him, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have
been sent to speak to you and to tell you this good news.” Luke 1:19
In
the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to
Nazareth, a town in Galilee.. Luke 1:26
Gabriel is only one of two angels
given a name (Michael is the other) in the Bible. His job is to deliver messages from God. He appeared to Daniel twice and to Zechariah
(father of John the Baptist) and Mary (mother of Jesus). His messages usually are good news, but
Gabriel also communicated the wrath of God.
Angels have many roles. Michael
is more military based. Gabriel, though,
doesn’t seem to be a wimp since his presence always caused fear, then his
messages brought relief and joy.
