How many angels appeared at Jesus’ empty tomb—one or two?

There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow… The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.  Matthew 28:2-3,5

While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? Luke 24:4-5

Matthew said one angel came down from heaven and rolled away the stone.  Then mentioned one angel talking to the women.  Luke doesn’t mention any angel rolling the stone away but says when the women entered the tomb they saw two angels.  Only one angel does the talking.

These accounts don’t contradict each other.  Both say one angel talked to the women.  Matthew says two were in the tomb, but Luke only mentions the one who talks.  Matthew doesn’t say how many total were in the tomb.
