The disciples said to him, “If this is the situation between a husband and wife, it is better not to marry.”

Jesus replied, “Not everyone can accept this word, but only those to whom it has been given. For there are eunuchs who were born that way, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by others—and there are those who choose to live like eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it.” Matthew 19:10-12

            Jesus said people are single for three reasons:

1.      Some were just born without the desire to be married.

2.      Some are single because life, people, circumstances have made them that way.

3.      Some are single because they’ve chosen to be single over being married.

Is there a right or wrong to any of these?  The only wrong that could creep into any reason to be single would be fear.  To be afraid of relationships is not what God intended.  To be single should be conscious decision based on one’s love for God, not one’s fear of others.
