Why did the Trinity show up at Jesus’ baptism?

As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:16-17

This was heaven’s stamp of approval on Jesus, confirmed by all the members of the Trinity.  It showed their teamwork as a family—the Father calls him “my son” and “loves” him.  It also created a buzz about Jesus, trending him in people’s hearts and minds.  This moment launched his public ministry.  Over the next three years, Jesus would talk about his relationship to the Father and Holy Spirit in more detail and how the whole Trinity worked.
