Every time we pray, should we recite the Lord’s prayer?

“This, then, is how you should pray:

“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.’
Matthew 6:9-13

When Jesus offered this prayer, he gave an outline, a model, on how to pray.  He said to pray like this, not to always pray this.  It’s not wrong to pray this prayer word for word out loud, but make sure the meaning is not missed or that the words become routine.

The outline of the prayer that Jesus suggested says to cover these points:

·         Address God with intimacy (Father)

·         Remember his name is holy

·         Desire his kingdom to reign on earth

·         Desires his will in your life

·         Ask for daily provisions

·         Ask for forgiveness

·         Ask for protection from temptation and evil

If praying that word-for-word helps, then do it, but think about every word and it’s meaning.
