Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.” He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them.  He was amazed at their lack of faith…

            Even Jesus, God, could not believe the extent of his hometown’s rejection.  He saw them all while growing up, probably thought they were nice people, religious people who followed the law, but now, with all the evidence before them, their hearts hardened.

            It’s possible that God, who knows all things, is still amazed or shocked at our total sinfulness and complete rejection of his love.
