When they
saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled,
ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been
with Jesus. Acts 4:13
The
priests, Pharisees and Sadducees got their positions because of their schooling
and temple experience. For them,
education meant power and confidence.
When they faced off with Peter and John, they saw something in them that
they didn’t have. The Jewish leaders
knew what they knew because they were taught.
The apostles knew what they knew because they saw and experienced. It was a courage the Jewish leaders didn’t
have. That’s why Jesus chose the blue
collar, ordinary workers with little education—to show the world that wisdom
and confidence don’t come through worldly schooling, but God’s heavenly
presence.
