How does Jesus free us from the law?

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:1-4
The law says this—obey it precisely or you will die.  One sin breaks the law and condemns us to death, meaning the price that must be paid for breaking the law.  Jesus died for us and paid that penalty.  Now the law has been satisfied through the one person who never broke the law on earth.  We’ve been set free from death because the price was paid.
Now the law is still a good guide for us to follow because it describes righteous behavior, but Jesus freed us from the consequences of breaking the law, past-present-future.
