How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And
how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they
hear without someone preaching to them? And how can
anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the
feet of those who bring good news!” Romans 10:14-15
Evangelize
means to proclaim a message. Jesus asks
all believers to be “witnesses” about what they’ve seen God do. Jesus commissioned us to go into all the
world and make disciples.
It’s
pretty clear that Christians have a responsibility to communicate the Good News
of Jesus Christ to everyone around them.
How will that happen?
While
there are many ways to introduce people to Christ – take them to church, give them
a Bible – one way will always be telling them what you know. The job has not been relegated to
“preachers.” We must all bring the good news.
But not all
the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed
our message?” Consequently,
faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word
about Christ. Romans 10:16-17
Those
words must be delivered by every Christian in some way. That way is personalized in a manner
comfortable to the person, relational and passionate. But, yes, find your way to evangelize and
tell others about Christ.
