For the
word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates
even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and
attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
Paul in Ephesians 6:17 called the word of God a sword
also, when discussing the armor of God.
A sword fights off the enemy and puts it to death.
Truth does the same thing, killing off lies and laying
them to rest. Truth cuts through the
falsehoods and exposes what’s inside.
The
Bible is truth and it’s that truth which gives the Bible profound
effectiveness. The more we speak it, the
more it judges our hearts to expose the truth.
The
Bible is a weapon defending truth and killing off the lies that kill us.
