Can I lose my salvation?

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1:3-5
Our inheritance is our relationship with God that continues from now into eternity.  It was solidified through the death of Jesus Christ on the cross.  His blood guaranteed an eternal result.  Our faith, though wavering at times, is shielded by God’s power, fighting off the doubts and trials we face, until fully revealed when we enter God’s presence.
But you can’t lose something you never really had. God would not would not allow His Spirit to enter a soul not ready for eternity.  Only He knows who is saved and who is not.  If someone is saved, that salvation can never be taken away because it was paid through an eternal, unending sacrifice.
I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.  John 10:28-29
