That night God appeared to
Solomon and said to him, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.” 2 Chronicles 1:7
Yes, God
doesn’t mind us asking, but be careful what you ask for.
God asked
Solomon what he wanted as Solomon embarked on being the new king of
Israel. Solomon asked for wisdom and got
it. Solomon used that wisdom for a long
time, then did some stupid stuff as he built an empire and justified his
actions. He created turmoil and mismanaged
his wisdom.
God won’t
give you whatever you want, but he’s open for you to ask.
God’s
answer may be a challenge that forces us to stretch ourselves in order to
discover what we wanted on our own. Or,
to realize what we truly need. We always
want the shortcut but God sees a better way.
