Anxiety, also
known as nervousness and worry, is becoming epidemic around the world. People are overwhelmed by so much these days. Many turn to other sources for comfort--medication, therapy, even animals.
Much of it
has to do with our sensory overload.
Cell phones bombard us with news and information. We need peace and some of that peace can be
found by giving up some things up in our lives and giving our minds a rest.
Paul
addressed anxiety in Philippians 4. He
said “Do not be anxious about anything.”
Easier said then done, right. But
he didn’t just give a command. He gave
practical steps.
1.
Pray and petition –
connect with God, talk to Him, let out all your needs, fears and hurt. He will listen.
2.
Give thanks – thank
God for what you will learn from this and how you will grow from this. Try to find something good in the bad.
3.
Present your requests –
give your troubles and worries to God.
Surrender the situation to Him and stop trying to solve it yourself.
4.
Find peace – allow the
Holy Spirit to give you rest and stop trying to rehearse and replay the situation
over and over in your mind.
You are being guarded by God. He wants to take care of you by letting you
know He’s involved your situation.
