“Beware
of your friends;
do
not trust anyone in your clan.
For every one of them is a deceiver,
and every friend a slanderer.
Friend deceives friend,
and no one speaks the truth.
They have taught their tongues to lie;
they weary themselves with sinning. Jeremiah 9:4-5

Yes,
we are all liars. If ever we told one
lie EVER then we are a liar. It doesn’t
mean we are currently lying, but we have the propensity to lie.
We
exaggerate and we avoid parts of the truth, still making us a liar.
We
say, “I love God” and yet do we really love to the limits of a true definition
of love? Probably not. We prefer our definition of love which is
weak and not too sacrificial. We lie to
ourselves and have grown used to it.
We
are also surrounded by lies. Have you
gotten a solicitor’s call today? Did you
trust them and immediately give them your social security number? Did someone knock on your door today? Did you immediately trust them and let them
in? No. You see the liars lurking all around and you mistrust many more people today.
Lying
is acceptable and understood in our culture today. That’s when things get dangerous and someone
like Jeremiah cried out for help. Can
you see the lying or have you become so used to it that you’re a part of it?
