Then the Lord said to me, “Do not pray for the well-being of this
people. Jeremiah 14:11
Of course He does, but in this situation, the people had
crossed the point of no return in terms of God’s patience, so far gone that praying would
do no good. That doesn’t mean your
stubborn uncle who won’t accept Christ is beyond help. Keep praying.
This situation shows us that some people’s fate can’t be
changed by prayer, but God had been patient with the nation of Israel for
centuries until He got to the point of saying “enough is enough.”
We don’t know that point in people’s lives, so let’s just
pray anyway unless God Himself tells you to stop (which is unlikely).
