Why do some people today insist the world s flat?

“Son of man, this is what the Sovereign Lord says to the land of Israel: “‘The end! The end has come upon the four corners of the land!  Ezekiel 7:2

After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree.  Revelation 7:1

Based on these scriptures found in the Bible, one would think the Bible believes the earth is flat.  However, the idea of "four corners" of the earth is an expression meaning every side of the earth or side of the earth or in every place on earth.

          However, the Bible also says:

He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth,
and its people are like grasshoppers.
He stretches out the heavens like a canopy,
and spreads them out like a tent to live in.  Isaiah 40:22

Another verse seems to understand the concept of gravity and earth's orbit:

He spreads out the northern skies over empty space;    he suspends the earth over nothing.  Job 42:11

Groups that push the idea of the flat earth (www.theflatearthsociety.org) are up against actual photos of the earth from space and eyewitness account of astronauts who have seen it with their own eyes.  The only reason to deny that the earth is round must be for other reason, either to feel empowered to attack fact, to attack religion or to create chaos in the world of truth, causing people to disbelieve things they've always believed (what is truth?).

He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.  Psalm 91:4

From this verse should we believe God has feathers?  No, the Bible uses metaphors and similes to express truth.  The truth in that verse is that God takes care of us like a mother hen would her chicks.  "Four corners of the earth" is also an expression means everywhere around us.
