Does the Book of Mormon prophesy about America?

But behold, this land, said God, shall be a land of thine inheritance, and the Gentiles shall be blessed upon the land.
And this land shall be a land of liberty unto the Gentiles, and there shall be no kings upon the land, who shall raise up unto the Gentiles.
And I will fortify this land against all other nations.
And he that fighteth against Zion shall perish, saith God.
For he that raiseth up a king against me shall perish, for I, the Lord, the king of heaven, will be their king, and I will be a light unto them forever, that hear my words. 2 Nephi 10:10-14

2 Nephi was supposedly written by a Jewish man named Nephi (this section a prophesy from his brother Jacob) around 550 BC when his family sailed on a boat to a Promised Land, known today as America, to escape the destruction of Jerusalem.

In this section he prophesizes about a "land of liberty" that Gentiles (non-Jews) will inhabit, void of any kings.  It will be a strong nation.

Maybe this confirms to many Mormons that a Mormon needs to be President...

This is an "amazing" prophecy if you believe that a man in 550 BC wrote it.  However, since we have no record of this text or any copies of it that circulated during the time, we would have to believe that a man in 1830 wrote it.

The Bible makes no predictions about America nor is concerned about the creation of this country.  It's more concerned about people accepting Jesus Christ where they will find TRUE liberty.
