Why did the Holocaust happen?

The Holocaust happened because of human sin. One race of people selfishly wanted superiority so they oppressed another race of people to validate their cause. Germany struggled after World War I and national pride was at all time low. Adolph Hitler came along and preached strength for Germany at any cost. He blamed the Jews for all their problems. As a result, Jews were killed.

Part of the reasoning for the Holocaust began with the Jews crucifixion of Jesus. They blamed all Jews for killing Christ. However, Jesus was a Jew and so were His followers. Only certain Jewish religious leaders killed Christ. It was the Romans who carried out the crucifixion. Rome is in Italy. Paradoxically, Italy, under Mussolini, aligned with Germany in fighting World War II. Why didn’t Germany blame them for persecuting Jesus?
