What is a fool?

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and discipline. Proverbs 1:7

Do not answer a fool according to his folly,
or you will be like him yourself. Proverbs 26:4

According to these passages in Proverbs, fools do not think or learn from their mistakes. They are immature by choice. Fools are selfish and stupid. They are not conniving enough to think out a plan thoroughly, so they act on instinct and emotion.

It is important to examine those we associate with and see where they fall on the “foolish” scale. Foolishness is seductive and fools can influence their followers to become twice as foolish.
