If I give, will I get more?

“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Luke 6:37-38

This “prosperity” teaching of giving to God to get more is unbiblical. The context of that statement – “give and it be given to you” – is talking about how we relate to others. It is an expansion on the idea of the Golden Rule, “Do to others as you would want done to you.” Jesus is saying if you are a giver, things will be given to you. There is no mathematical formula. No promise of an exact amount.  It's a heart issue.

If you give to get, then your heart isn’t giving. Its intention is getting. Jesus does not encourage that.

God states that if we have this kind of giving attitude, we will be blessed to overflowing.
